About Assa Abloy Visionline

Assa Abloy is a Swedish conglomerate that offers products and services related to locks, doors, gates, and entrance automation. The company was formed in 1994 through the merger of Swedish firm ASSA and Finnish high security lock manufacturer Abloy. Since then, the company has made over 200 acquisitions, including Yale lock, Chubb Locks, Medeco in the United States, Mul-T-Lock in Israel, and Fichet-Bauche in France. Its two largest shareholders are Latour and Melker Schörling AB.

Assa Abloy was formed when Assa AB was separated from Swedish security firm Securitas AB and merged with Abloy Oy, a Finnish high security lock manufacturer. The company was introduced to the Stockholm Stock Exchange later the same year. Assa Abloy has since grown significantly, making numerous acquisitions to expand its offerings and broaden its reach. In 1999, the company acquired Effeff Fritz Fuss in Germany, allowing it to enter the electromechanical lock market. In 2000, Assa Abloy doubled in size with the acquisition of the global lock group Yale Intruder Security, and also acquired HID, adding electronic identification to its product portfolio.

In 2002, the company acquired Besam, a Swedish company specialized in automatic pedestrian doors, and Fargo Electronics, a company that develops systems for the safe issuance of ID cards. In 2006, Assa Abloloy acquired ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, a manufacturer of automatic doors for commercial, industrial and residential buildings. This acquisition allowed the company to expand its offering to include entrance automation solutions. In 2007, Assa Abloy acquired the door opening solutions company Steelcraft Inc., further expanding its reach in North America.

Assa Abloy has also made a number of strategic partnerships and collaborations with colleges and universities to develop new technologies and advance the field of security. In 2018, the company partnered with the University of Michigan to develop smart locks that can be controlled using smartphones. In 2019, the company partnered with KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm to develop a new type of lock that uses quantum technology for enhanced security.

Today, Assa Abloy is a leading global provider of security solutions, with a wide range of products and services that cater to a variety of industries and applications. The company's offerings include mechanical and electronic locks, entrance automation solutions, identification systems, and more. With its focus on innovation and technology, Assa Abloy is well-positioned to continue its growth and expansion in the security industry.
